Has your photography been in the dumps lately? Well this is your opportunity to take it to a whole new level. Steve Troffater will be leading this months field trip. He will be showing us some great bird photography opportunities from the bird observation area at the Tomoka Landfill AKA "The Dump". You can expect to see lots of birds. Bald Eagles, Immature Bald Eagles, Sandhill Cranes, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, flocks of Ibis, both white and black, a million Laughing Gull, and 2 million Vultures just to name a few! You know how it is with birds, they come and they go. The mystery is what is going to fly in next?
The Tomoka Landfill is located on Tomoka Farms Road aka Rt 415 about 3 miles north of Taylor Rd on the west side and about 2 miles before the Daytona Flea Market. There is a turn lane and signs stating Trucks Turning and Entering. The Landfill has a small sign.
We will meet at 8:00 A.M. at the visitor registration building parking lot which is located about a quarter mile in on the right. From there we can carpool in or there is enough room for about 6 cars at the bird observing area.
The ground is grassy and mostly stable but good outdoor shoes would be advised. Your longest lens and tripod would be helpful.
Any questions or concerns give Steve a call at: 603 490-6228
As with all our events you do not have to be a member of the Southeast Volusia Camera Club to attend. This is a great opportunity to get out and meet other photographers of all levels and different walks of life .
Looking forward to seeing all our club members, their guest and any new faces who want to join us for the day.
